Where are you bound?

A few clichés…

:: Bound & Determined :: Bound Up :: Bound for Home :: Bound to Happen :: Bound Together ::

I recently attended a conference and was assigned a three-minute speech on a chosen passage of scripture. The exercise included several points on which I would be critiqued. I was bound to complete the instructions thoroughly and follow through. I had a decisive outline, including details and tangible illustrations of my point. However, I did not anticipate the facilitator’s introduction that preceded my own speech. The arrangement of words I heard permeated through me, awakening a new message. Still, I was hesitant to cast aside my notes and trust that inner voice.

My mind was bound…I proceeded to complete my presentation, received acceptable scores, but my heart felt so heavy… Why? Despite my success in delivering the speech, I fell short of delivering the message that day. I have included the scripture I selected.  Matthew 10:19-20

Do not worry about what you are going to say or how you will say it; when the time comes, you will be given what you will say. For the words you will speak will not be yours, they will come from the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

As we begin this written journey, my hope is to find ourselves bound in grace with thankful hearts.

Very insightful – words have a way of coming to mind after a good night’s rest and nice cup of coffee – and some prayer

I’m so glad to see you putting your thoughts in a blog, Mel. You have a beautiful transparent spirit, and we’ll be blessed by getting to share in your journey. “Where are you bound?” is such an interesting question. It can actually be asking two opposite things–“Where are you off to on your adventure?” is one way to phrase it, and “What is holding you back?” is the other way. .I guess it comes down to WHOM I am traveling with, right? If my limitations and strongholds are there, I’m bound and confined to the very earth. But if Jesus is with me, then I’m bound for an adventure! Mel, let the ‘Spirit of your Father’ give you the words you are searching for to express your heart and we’re all bound for an incredible ride with you! Much love to you, my friend~

  3. Welcome to the blogosphere! I’m glad I was able to nudge you forward in the next step of your journey. You write beautifully, and we all are bound by the burden of His words vs our own. A daily struggle. We fall down, and we get back up…

    blessings on your new adventure!

For too long I have been bound by the world and bound by the desires of my flesh. I was unable to appreciate the gift of life. The old saying, “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone” comes to mind. In two very different ways both you and I came very close to death. Out of our experiences something very beautiful happened… We gained a new perspective on life.
Today for me, life is precious. Today I am bound in the love, grace, and mercy of my Heavenly Father. For too long I merely existed in the world. Today God called and I answered. I was able to share with a group of people who might not have any hope at all, the hope God has given me.
Out of the numerous blessings God has poured out on me there are two that stand out; peace that resides within my soul and love that embodies my heart. For years I looked to find these within the world and came up empty handed. Had I not turned my life over to God, I would have never begun to experience either. It would be selfish not to share the message of Christ and rob others of the opportunity to know a more fulfilling way of life.
I appreciate your unconditional love. Continue to walk with Christ and He will bless you in ways you never imagined. Congratulations on completing your first blog, there is now a new addition to the world wide web.
